Man Arrested Following Air Support Police Operation in Portsmouth
An operation involving the Police helicopter and a number of response officers has taken place in Paulsgrove on the outskirts of the Portsmouth this afternoon. A silver car was taken away by police contractors and a man was led away in handcuffs into a police van. A police helicopter hovered above the street while the operation to detain the man took place. A single Police car remains parked in a side road after the Police descended on Collington Crescent just after 4pm this afternoon. A spokesman for Hampshire Police said a man was being questioned in relation to theft offences and that his car had been taken away by police. It is unclear if this latest arrest is related to a series of robberies on taxi drivers over the Christmas period in which two men have been detained and have since appeared at Portsmouth City Magistrates Court.
