A man has been taken to hospital after a bus struck a tree, causing it to fall onto a pedestrian in Welling earlier today.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to the junction of Faraday Road and Bellegrove Road at 11:24am following reports that a man had been injured by a falling tree. Emergency services, including paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, responded quickly to the scene.
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. His injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
Initial reports suggest that the tree fell after being hit by a bus. The driver of the bus remained at the scene and is assisting with police enquiries.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“We were called at 11:24hrs on Sunday, 27 April to reports that a man had been injured by a falling tree at the junction of Faraday Road and Bellegrove Road, Welling. Officers responded with other emergency services.
A man was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
It’s thought the tree fell after being struck by a bus. Further enquiries will take place to establish the circumstances. The driver of the bus stopped at the scene.”
The London Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.
