Motorists travelling on the M1 northbound in Derbyshire faced a challenging and frustrating journey today as a multi-vehicle collision brought traffic to a standstill. The incident occurred between Junction 28, near Alfreton, and Junction 30, near Chesterfield, resulting in severe delays of up to two hours.

The collision, which involved four heavy goods vehicles and a van, took place between Junction 29A, near Duckmanton and Markham Vale services, and Junction 30. As a result of the accident, lanes 1, 2, and 3 (of the four lanes) had to be closed for safety reasons.
