Officers investigating a serious collision in Grays are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver involved. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when two women were running along Dock Road. At the junction with Marshfoot Road and Old Dock Approach Road, they were struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene. Police believe the vehicle to be a dark-coloured BMW, and have released an image of the car in the hope that it will jog someone’s memory.
As the BMW fled the scene, it overtook another car, believed to be a Ford Fiesta. Investigators are also keen to speak to the driver of the Fiesta as a potential witness.
Detective Sergeant Steve Holmes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, emphasized the severity of the injuries sustained and the importance of finding the driver responsible.
Although the released images may not be the clearest, investigators hope that they will still provide valuable information. The car involved in the collision is likely to have sustained visible damage, so anyone who notices such damage on a neighbour’s car or sees a car parked differently than usual is urged to report it to the police.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any CCTV footage from the area to come forward. If you have any information that could assist in the investigation, please contact the police, quoting incident number 1095 of 8 November.
