Essex Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage following a multi-vehicle collision that occurred near the Dartford Crossing.

The crash happened at around midday on Friday (April 18) on the A282, just before the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge in Purfleet. Three vehicles were involved in the incident: a silver Mercedes, a black Mazda CX-5, and a grey Cupra.

Police say the driver of the silver Mercedes left the scene before officers arrived. They are now working to trace the individual and have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Essex Police confirmed that only one driver sustained minor injuries, but all three vehicles were damaged in the crash.

“We’re appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area around midday and may have seen the crash or captured any of it on dash cam. This footage could help us identify the driver who left the scene,” the spokesperson said.
