Schoolgirl, 12, Dies After Being Hit by Falling Tree Branch as Family Pays Tribute to ‘Shining Light’

 
Brooke’s family has since launched a fundraising page in her memory and announced a community memorial. On Wednesday, November 13, they plan to gather at Banstead Park at 6 p.m. for a lantern and balloon release in honour of Brooke’s 13th birthday.

Tributes have poured in on social media, with Brooke’s cousin describing her as “one of a kind” and friends recalling her “heart of gold.” One friend wrote, “I love you so much, you will never be forgotten, you will always be my best friend.”

Police have closed off the footpath where the incident occurred, collecting evidence to determine the circumstances. A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Brooke’s death is not being treated as suspicious and that a report will be prepared for the coroner.

London Fire Brigade Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne expressed condolences, saying, “The thoughts of our crews and staff across the entire Brigade are with the child’s family at this difficult time.”
