Pilot dies in fiery Tejas jet crash

A pilot has died after an Indian Tejas fighter jet crashed and burst into flames during a final demonstration at the Dubai Airshow.

Dramatic scenes at Dubai World Central

The single-seat Light Combat Aircraft went down at around 2.10pm local time at Al Maktoum International Airport. Black smoke billowed into the sky as spectators looked on in horror and sirens wailed across the airfield.

Show halted, investigation launched

Rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately, forcing organisers to pause the show and send visitors back to the exhibition area. The Indian Air Force has confirmed the pilot’s death and launched a full inquiry into the crash.
