Two Children Killed in Fatal Collision in Pitsea – Update

A short time later, a man and a woman, both in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision. Both individuals remain in police custody as investigations continue.

Detective Sergeant Sam Nason, who is leading the investigation, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, stating: “Specialist officers are supporting the loved ones of the two children who sadly died yesterday. My team is working tirelessly to give them the answers they need about what happened.”

DS Nason also called for respect regarding the privacy of the victims’ families, saying, “At this stage, we are not providing any more information about the boy and girl who have died, and I would ask that their privacy, and that of their loved ones, is respected. I know there is a lot of interest in what happened last night, but I would also urge people not to speculate.”

The investigation is ongoing, and Essex Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant footage. Authorities are particularly asking for CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that may help with the investigation.

“If you have information about the collision, please contact my team,” DS Nason added.

Essex Police thanked emergency services and members of the public who attempted to assist the children at the scene.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Essex Police via their website or by calling 101. Anonymous reports can also be made through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please reference incident 931 of 1 February when providing information.

As the investigation progresses, officers remain focused on bringing clarity to the families affected by this devastating loss.
