Victoria Station has been closed following a fire alert, causing significant disruption to late-evening commuters in the capital.
The closure was confirmed shortly after 10:30pm, with Transport for London (TfL) advising that the busy central London interchange had been evacuated as a precaution.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the station remains closed while investigations are carried out. There have been no reports of injuries, and the nature of the fire alert has not yet been officially confirmed.
Alternative Travel Arrangements
In response to the disruption, London buses are accepting valid Tube tickets for travel to and from stations either side of Victoria Station on the Circle, District, and Victoria Lines.
TfL has urged passengers to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, and check for live updates via the TfL website and social media channels.
Public Advisory
A TfL spokesperson said:
“Victoria Station has been closed due to a fire alert. London Fire Brigade are in attendance and carrying out safety checks. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank passengers for their patience while we manage the situation.”
Passengers already inside the station were safely evacuated, and station staff remain on site to provide assistance and guidance.
Ongoing Investigation
As of this update, it is unclear how long the station will remain closed. TfL and emergency services are working to resolve the situation and restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible.
Commuters are advised to continue checking TfL’s travel updates or follow @TfL on social media for the latest developments.
