The woman, in her 40s, was taken to hospital after being injured in Wootton Street, Bedworth, Warwickshire, on Saturday afternoon.
Carl Aubertin, 37, of Wootton Street, is due before Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he is also charged with assault.
The woman remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
