A man has been jailed for a string of offences, including assaulting a police officer – UKNIP

Nathanual Christopher Hemy, 25, of Portswood Road in Southampton, was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment at Southampton Crown Court on 12 July.

He had previously pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation firearm, assaulting an emergency worker, two counts of criminal damage, driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance, threatening behaviour, dangerous driving, and aggravated vehicle taking.

The court heard Hemy rode a motorcycle without insurance or a licence on 29 January 2022 when he was involved in a collision with a black Audi car at about 11.45pm on Kent Street, Southampton.

A witness to the collision filmed the incident and this footage showed Hemy in possession of what appeared to be a firearm.

Hemy was then placed under arrest while receiving treatment for his injuries at Southampton General Hospital.

In February 2022, while under arrest at the hospital, Hemy punched a TV screen, threw items at a police officer, used offensive language towards police officers and members of the public, and damaged a hospital call bell.

In a separate incident at about 10.30am on 12 April 2022, Hemy was spotted driving a stolen Ford Fiesta with cloned plates in a dangerous manner on Maybray King Way.

He was pursued by police and Hemy was arrested.

As well as the custodial sentence, Hemy was disqualified from driving for 39 months
