A 63-year-old man, identified as Gheorghe Tirbu of Canterbury Road, Ashford, has been charged with two separate instances of sexual assault in the town centre of Ashford.
Details of the Incident
The first incident was reported on Saturday, 25 November 2023. It involved a woman being approached and inappropriately touched over her clothing in a local restaurant. The second assault reportedly occurred on Thursday, 30 November, at the same location in Ashford.
Police Response and Arrest
Following a swift investigation by Kent Police, Gheorghe Tirbu was arrested later on the day of the second reported assault. He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault by touching.
Court Appearance and Bail
Tirbu appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 1 December. He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to reappear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on 16 August 2024.
