Channel 4’s True Crime Series 24 Hours in Police Custody Returns with Special ‘Murder on Prescription’
Channel 4’s gripping true crime documentary 24 Hours in Police Custody is back this week with a special two-part series titled Murder on Prescription. The series follows the intense investigation by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit into the chilling murder of Eliza Bibby in Wisbech.

Fans of the show will see the traditional format of 24 Hours in Police Custody unfold over two consecutive nights. The first part will air on Monday, September 9 at 9pm, with the concluding episode broadcast the following evening, Tuesday, September 10, also at 9pm on Channel 4.

What Happened to Eliza Bibby?

On January 10, 2023, Eliza Bibby was discovered by a friend in her home, lying in a pool of blood. The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit opened an investigation, initially uncovering a network of drug activity around Wisbech. However, despite identifying some suspects, there was not enough hard evidence to charge anyone at that time.

A post-mortem revealed that Eliza had sustained three stab wounds, including a deep one to her neck. Police later uncovered that Eliza had been selling prescription and controlled drugs from her home.

Through surveillance footage and new evidence, detectives identified a man named Jamie Boughen, who had been seen leaving Eliza’s home the night before her body was discovered. Footage showed Jamie returning to his own home later that night with bleach and a bucket and entering a utility room.

Further investigations revealed that Jamie had visited Eliza to purchase drugs. Police eventually found the murder weapon on a nearby garage roof, linking Jamie to the crime.

In October 2023, Jamie Boughen was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 22 years before being considered for parole.

A Shocking Case Unfolds

Channel 4’s preview of 24 Hours in Police Custody: Murder on Prescription hints at unexpected twists, stating, “The local rumour mill came up with the name of a possible suspect, but a discovery was going to challenge everything the police thought they knew.”

The special promises to delve into the complexities of the investigation and the steps that led to the capture of Eliza Bibby’s murderer. The two-part episode is set to be an unmissable event for true crime enthusiasts as it follows the relentless pursuit of justice in this harrowing case.

Tune in to Channel 4 on September 9 and 10 at 9pm to watch the story unfold.
