Police in england/south-east/east-sussex/”>East Sussex have charged
Mohammed Maatoug with sexual assault by penetration. The charges follow an incident involving a woman in her 50s who reported being sexually assaulted while sunbathing in the dunes at
Camber Sands,
Rye, around 5.30pm on
25 August.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the report, an investigation was launched. On 6 September, police arrested the 33-year-old Maatoug, of Boxley Road, Maidstone, on suspicion of sexual assault by penetration.
Court Proceedings
He was charged and subsequently remanded in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 9 September. Maatoug is scheduled to appear at court again on 7 October, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
