Controlled Explosion at Bluewater Shopping Centre
A controlled explosion was carried out on an unattended package at Bluewater Shopping Centre, causing significant disruption for shoppers.
Evacuation and Response
Hundreds of shoppers were caught up in the drama as part of the centre was evacuated. Witnesses reported hearing a bang shortly before 9pm, with officials confirming it was a controlled explosion.
A spokesperson for Bluewater stated: “Following reports of an unattended package, we have cordoned off an area while police investigate. We are liaising with Kent Police.”
Previous Incident
Witnesses noted that the evacuated area stretched from Marks and Spencer to the food hall. This incident marks the second evacuation in two days; the previous day, a fire broke out in the Village section of the Greenhithe mall, located between John Lewis and 1 of Fraser.
