Kyle Clifford has been remanded in custody following a court appearance today (September 17) at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where it was revealed that one of his victims had been tied to a chair during a fatal crossbow and knife attack. Clifford, 26, faces three counts of murder, false imprisonment, and two counts of possession of offensive weapons after an incident in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9.
Clifford, of Rendlesham Road, Enfield, was charged with three counts of murder, false imprisonment, and possession of offensive weapons, including a crossbow and a 10-inch butcher’s knife. He had been under arrest since July 10, but police were previously unable to interview him due to his own injuries, for which he was receiving treatment in hospital.
The Chief Magistrate, Paul Goldspring, remanded Clifford in custody, stating that the charges of murder and false imprisonment are serious matters that must be heard at the crown court. Clifford is set to appear later today at the Royal Courts of Justice for a further hearing.
In a previous statement following the tragic incident, John Hunt and his third daughter Amy expressed their devastation: “The devastation we are experiencing cannot be put into words.”
The court case continues as Clifford faces trial for the harrowing attack that has left a family and community reeling.
