A drug dealer has been locked up after cops spotted him trying—and failing—to ditch crack cocaine in a local park.
Levi Beckford’s Loud Outburst Raises Police Suspicion
Officers in Newark first noticed 23-year-old Levi Beckford shouting in the street on Yorke Drive while attending an unrelated incident. Approaching the irate man, the neighbourhood police grew suspicious of his behaviour.
A search revealed Beckford carrying a wad of cash and burner phones—classic signs of drug dealing. Although no drugs were found on him, police believed he was up to no good and launched a wider search in the area.
Discarded Drugs Found Under Tree Near Play Park
Knowing Beckford had just come from a woodland area near a play park, officers checked the spot. Sure enough, on 19 September last year, they recovered large quantities of Class A drugs dumped beneath a tree.
Beckford was arrested and charged with drug offences after the discovery.
Beckford Sent Down for Over Three Years
With no fixed address, Beckford pleaded guilty in January to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs—thanks to solid evidence from Newark’s neighbourhood policing team and the force’s Drug Focus Desk.
