Five Jailed In Surrey Drug Gang Crackdown: Ringleader Carl Garton Sentenced To 10 Years

Five individuals have been jailed for a total of over 23 years for their roles in a large-scale drug supply operation across Surrey and Hampshire, following a detailed investigation by Surrey Police.

The sentencing took place following a probe that began in December 2020, when officers uncovered text messages indicating cocaine and cannabis distribution. A warrant executed at Carl Garton’s address in March 2021 led to the discovery of drugs and crucial evidence linking several others to the organised operation.

Sentencing Breakdown

  • Carl Garton, 34, of Walden Cottages, Normandy
    • Pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis and conspiracy to produce cannabis
    • Sentenced to 10 years in prison

Organised Crime Group Dismantled

The investigation revealed that Carl Garton was the ringleader, orchestrating the entire drug distribution network. North and Caborn acted as runners, distributing drugs across the region, while Munro and Shannon Garton supported the logistics and day-to-day running of the drugs line.

All five were arrested in a coordinated operation in September 2021 and later charged.

Detective Constable Mikki Mayhew of Surrey Police said:
“This is a fantastic result for the people of Surrey and for our team. With five organised criminals now off the streets, we’re ensuring our communities are safer.

We remain committed to disrupting drug dealing and county lines. If you’re concerned about drug activity in your area, please report it—every report helps us dismantle these networks.”

Public Encouraged to Report Suspicious Activity

Surrey Police continue to urge the public to report suspected drug dealing by calling 101, reporting online, or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
