At 9.30 a.m. today, officers were dispatched to reports of a suspicious person in Talehangers Close (January 10). The London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance also responded and discovered a man in a mental health crisis. He then fled towards the Cricket Club on Park View Road in Welling, according to police. To prevent further injury, a taser was reportedly used as the man began to self-harm. He was then detained and taken to a mental health facility under the Mental Health Act. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Officers were called to Talehangers Close, Bexleyheath, at 09:28hrs on Tuesday, 10 January,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. “It was reported that people at the location were acting suspiciously. “When police arrived, they discovered a man who appeared to be in a mental health crisis. “The man bolted for the Park View Road Cricket Club. “The man then began to self-harm and a taser was deployed in order to prevent further injury, he was then detained under the mental health act. London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene. “The man has been taken to hospital, his injuries are not thought life-threatening. “Officers are attempting to contact his next of kin.”
