Four arrested as police called after violent altercation at Doncaster College between gang of men

 

Doncaster College was placed into lockdown and evacuated earlier today after a violent altercation erupted between a group of men, prompting a large-scale police response.

The incident occurred around 12.37pm on Wednesday (March 19) at the college campus on Chappell Drive, with witnesses reporting a heavy emergency services presence, including police vehicles and an ambulance.

According to South Yorkshire Police, four males were detained at the scene following reports of a fight involving a gang of men. One person sustained a minor hand injury, though no other injuries have been reported.

“Evacuated as a Precaution”

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said:

“Officers have been deployed to Doncaster College where they have detained four males following reports of an altercation between a group of males.
One person has suffered a minor hand injury. No other injuries have been reported.
The college has been evacuated as a precaution to allow for a full search of the site to ensure it is safe before any staff or students return.”

Police Presence Continues

The site remains cordoned off, with officers continuing to conduct searches and gather evidence. Police have confirmed that they will remain at the college to reassure staff, students, and the local community as their investigation continues.

Students and staff were safely evacuated from the building during the incident, and updates regarding the college’s reopening are expected to follow shortly.
