Lisa Denton, 40, died after a shocking attack outside a North Shields pub just hours after enjoying a rare night out. Her close friend, Paul “Basher” Bine, has shared chilling details of their last evening together.
From Italian Meal to Tragedy
Lisa and Paul, who met at the gym three years ago, had an upbeat night planned. The fitness fanatics dined at Rosmarino, an Italian restaurant in North Shields, where Lisa was in high spirits. They even bought a bottle of wine for a newly engaged couple.
“She was in a good mood, we were having a good time,” Basher told Chronicle Live.
The pair chatted excitedly about a holiday they had just booked to Turkey.
Attack Outside Charlie’s Bar
After visiting a couple of pubs, Lisa and Basher were drawn to Charlie’s Bar on Nile Street by the music. It was around 10pm on Saturday, 24 January, when disaster struck.
“I went to the bar, the next thing I knew she was outside and that was it,” said Basher. “Someone came and told us. I got a shock, I just saw Lisa lying there. The ambulance had already arrived. It was just mind-blowing. I couldn’t believe it.”
Lisa suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, but tragically died the following morning with her family by her side.
Accused Awaiting Trial
19-year-old Liam Moor has appeared in court accused of Lisa’s killing. As he awaits trial, Paul pays tribute to his friend:
“She was a brilliant friend. We just used to wind each other up all the time. We’d go out once a month, and we go for a walk every weekend. We used to walk from the Fish Quay to Cullercoats,”
The 63-year-old labourer said.
Lisa lived with her terminally ill mother, Carol, whom she cared for, and worked full-time in IT within the motor trade. Her passion for fitness and martial arts was well known locally.
