Images Released of Man Sought in Connection with Hackney Marshes Sexual Assaults – UKNIP

Detectives have released images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a series of sexual assaults that have occurred in the Hackney Marshes area. The assaults, which have taken place between March and August 2024, involve a suspect touching lone women over their clothing.

The most recent reported offence occurred on 7 August, and police believe the suspect is using an e-scooter during the assaults. A total of ten reports of sexual touching have been filed so far.

Detective Constable Lucy Dunwell, from Hackney CID, addressed the concerns of local residents, stating: “We recognise the concern this will cause amongst the local community. I understand that many who live, walk, and run within this area will be fearful after hearing about these incidents, and I assure you that we are working tirelessly to identify the man responsible.

Officers are collaborating with Hackney Council to increase patrols in the area and provide reassurance to residents. They are urging anyone visiting the area to stay vigilant, keep their phone charged, and contact the police if they see anything suspicious.

The police have issued images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation. They are appealing to the public for help in identifying him. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting CAD 3214/02SEP, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In an emergency, the public is reminded to always dial 999. If you have been a witness or a victim of sexual assault, police encourage you to come forward for support and investigation.
