Leading Drill Star Digga D Admits to Drugs Charges Following Police Raid

A prominent figure in the UK drill music scene, Digga D, has admitted to two drug charges after a police raid interrupted an online performance.

Digga D, whose real name is Rhys Herbert, appeared via video link from HMP Wormwood Scrubs at Lincoln Crown Court, where he is currently remanded in custody. The 23-year-old from Lonsdale Road, Notting Hill, pleaded guilty to charges of supplying and importing cannabis.

Herbert was arrested near Lincoln in the early hours of February 21 while he was broadcasting on Instagram Live. At the court hearing on Tuesday, the prosecution did not accept the basis of his pleas. Consequently, Judge Simon Hirst adjourned the case until July 8 to determine if there will be a trial of issue.

The artist admitted to smuggling cannabis on July 11, 2023, and to supplying cannabis between October 26, 2022, and February 21, 2024.

Digga D is renowned as one of the leading performers in the UK drill scene, with his tracks amassing millions of views online. Drill music, which originated in Chicago in the early 2010s, has seen significant adoption and adaptation by UK artists in recent years.

The outcome of the adjourned case will be keenly watched by fans and industry insiders alike, given Digga D’s prominent status in the drill music genre.
