Man Charged After Stabbing Outside Highgate Supermarket

 

A man has been charged with multiple offences following a stabbing incident outside a grocery store in Highgate last week.

Police were called at 9.51pm on Thursday, April 10, to reports of a stabbing on Swain’s Lane, directly outside the Superette supermarket.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, where they found a 34-year-old man with stab wounds to his back. Fortunately, his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing, and he was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Multiple Charges Filed

Following an investigation, Brian Samuels, 54, of Borehamwood, was arrested and charged on Saturday, April 12 with six offences, including:

  • Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH)
  • Violent Disorder
  • Possession of an Offensive Weapon
  • Assault
  • Driving Without a Licence
  • Driving Without Insurance

Samuels was remanded in custody and appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 14.

Police Statement

A source for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest and charges, adding:

“This was a serious incident in a busy area. We are grateful for the swift response by officers and the support of the local community. We are continuing our enquiries and urge anyone with further information or footage to come forward.”

Ongoing Investigation

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the stabbing to assist the investigation.
