Suspect Faces Multiple Charges After Attack in Stadium Road

A 21-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after a serious assault in Southend left two people injured.

Essex Police’s Serious Crime Directorate launched an urgent investigation following reports of a stabbing incident that unfolded inside a private address on Stadium Road in the early hours of Sunday, 16 February.

Incident Details

Location: Stadium Road, Southend
Time: Around 5:00 AM, Sunday 16 February
Victims: A man with stab wounds and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries
Suspect Arrested: 21-year-old Marlon Buchoon-Katsambe

Officers were first called to Greyhound Way, where they found a man suffering from stab wounds. Emergency services responded swiftly, and he was transported to hospital, where he is now in a stable condition.

As officers investigated, they linked the attack to an address on Stadium Road, where they found a woman with injuries.

Later that morning, officers arrested a 21-year-old suspect, who has now been formally charged.

Charges and Court Appearance

The suspect, Marlon Buchoon-Katsambe, of Stadium Road, Southend, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of attempted murder
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
  • Assault by beating
  • Two counts of intentional strangulation

Buchoon-Katsambe is due to appear before Southend Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, 17 February 2025.

Police Reassure Public

? Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe praised the swift response of officers, paramedics, and hospital staff, saying:

“This was a serious incident that rightly warranted a substantial response. Our officers were quickly on the scene, and diligent investigative work has led to these charges.

“While there will understandably be public concern, I want to reassure the community that this incident took place inside a private address and involved individuals known to each other. There is no ongoing threat to the wider public.”
