Kent Police’s Rural Task Force has successfully located a stolen caravan in Dartford with the assistance of a police drone, following its theft from a farmyard in Cheshire.

The caravan reported stolen on Saturday, February 3, 2024, was traced over 200 miles away from its original location, thanks to diligent efforts by local officers who acted on information suggesting its presence in Kent.

Deploying innovative technology, a constable utilized a drone on Saturday, February 10, to survey potential locations where the stolen caravan may have been parked. The aerial reconnaissance proved fruitful as the vehicle was spotted in Darenth Wood Road, Dartford.

Upon confirming the presence of the stolen caravan, patrols were dispatched to the location. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman. Both individuals were subsequently arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and theft.

Following their arrest, the suspects were released on bail until Wednesday, May 8, as investigations into the incident continue.

The use of drones by Police has increasingly proven to be an effective tool in various operations, including locating stolen property and apprehending suspects. This successful recovery highlights the importance of technological advancements in modern policing and the dedication of officers to combat crime and protect communities.

As Kent Police continues its efforts to ensure the safety and security of the public, they urge anyone with information related to this incident or other criminal activities to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigations.
