Three men have been arrested following a major investigation into attempts to smuggle drugs and contraband into rochester-prison/">HMP Rochester, Kent Police has confirmed.

The arrests come as part of a coordinated operation between Kent Police’s Prison Investigation Team and the South East Regional Prison Intelligence Team, aiming to disrupt illegal deliveries of items to inmates.
On Tuesday, 29 April 2025, officers raided homes in Swanley and Orpington, arresting three men aged 42, 27, and 21.

During the searches, drugs and a knife were recovered.

The suspects were taken into custody and have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police Statement

Detective Constable Olivia Welch, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Prohibited articles in prisons undermine security and fuel serious crime and disorder both inside and outside the jail. We will continue to work closely with prison teams to identify, arrest and charge anyone suspected of being involved in this serious crime.”
