Hassan Suliman, 31, of Rothesay Terrace, Rochdale, has been handed a hefty 16-year sentence at Manchester Crown Court. The conviction follows his manslaughter of Alberto Ursu after a New Year’s Eve house party turned deadly.

Fatal Stabbing Shocks Rochdale

In the early hours of January 1, 2025, police rushed to Essex Street amid reports of a violent disturbance. They found 38-year-old Alberto Ursu with multiple stab wounds. Emergency teams fought to save him, but he tragically died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Violent Confrontation Ends in Death

  • The Major Incident Team’s probe revealed a brutal fight between Suliman and Ursu, leaving both injured.
  • Suliman fled the scene but was soon found collapsed nearby.
  • Forensic evidence linked weapons recovered to both men.

After a six-week trial, Suliman was convicted of manslaughter in September but cleared of other charges. He faces a minimum of 13 years behind bars, plus an additional three years on licence.
