Two men, aged 60 and 35, both hailing from Totton, have been granted bail until March 22 as part of an ongoing murder investigation into the tragic death of a man in Southampton City Centre. The two individuals had previously been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The incident in question occurred at the junction of Bernard Street and Oxford Street on December 22, resulting in the passing of a man in his 40s. Police were alerted in the early hours of that fateful morning to reports of the man from Fareham experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that the victim had been involved in a physical altercation. Despite immediate efforts to resuscitate him, the man was, regrettably, pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was temporarily cordoned off for investigation purposes throughout the morning, but this restriction was lifted later in the afternoon.
As of now, no charges have been put in connection with the incident. A police spokesperson confirmed that the inquiry is still ongoing, with investigators actively working to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
The release of the two individuals on bail until March 22 indicates that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will likely emerge as the case develops. Police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in their efforts to establish the facts surrounding this unfortunate incident.
