Two men have been charged with attempted murder after a serious assault in Folkestone. Kent Police were called to a private address in Firs Lane at 10:45 am on Friday, 4 April 2025, where a man in his 50s sustained serious injuries, including one consistent with a stab wound. He was transported to a London hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
Shortly after the incident, officers stopped a car in the Dymchurch area and arrested two men, aged 45 and 40, in connection with the assault. Two additional men, aged 24 and 73, were detained later the same day. All parties are understood to be known to each other.
On Sunday, 6 April, detectives charged Abdul Gunes, 73, of The Leas, Folkestone, and Necdet Gunes, 45, of Windmill Close, Folkestone, with attempted murder. Both men have been remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 April. The two other men who had been arrested were released without charge.
Witnesses described seeing the victim “covered in blood” following the assault. Emergency services, including police and forensic officers, were present at the scene throughout the day as investigations continued.
