Two teenagers have been charged and remanded in custody following a shocking sword attack on a 15-year-old boy in Franklin Road, Portslade, last week.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9pm on Thursday, 10 July, after reports of a serious assault involving a blade. The victim, a local teenager, suffered significant injuries to his arm and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

A swift response from Sussex Police led to the arrest of two teenagers, a 16-year-old from Brighton and a 17-year-old from Eastbourne, who were charged in the early hours of Saturday, 12 July.

Due to their ages, both suspects cannot be named for legal reasons.

Charges

Both defendants appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and were remanded in custody. They are due to return to court on Thursday, 18 July.
