Officers investigating an attempted kidnap in Andover have arrested a man.
Police were called at 5.32pm on Monday (2 March) to a report that a woman in her 50s had been struck by a large white van and grabbed by the driver on Micheldever Road.
She was then pulled towards the back of the vehicle but managed to fend off the man and run away. The woman phoned police and was taken to hospital to receive treatment for injuries to her knee, wrist and nose. She has since been discharged from hospital.
Police say they are taking this report extremely seriously and are working hard to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.
The man has been described as white, aged in his 20s or 30s, with a slim build and dark hair. He was wearing a green fleece.
Following police enquiries, a 28-year-old man from Newquay has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap. He remains in custody at this time.
