A well-loved restaurant and sports bar in March, Cambridgeshire has fallen victim to a burglary, leaving owners shaken and the local community rallying in support.
The footage shows the intruder rummaging through stock and tills, though the method of forced entry remains unclear. Despite this, the availability of video evidence offers investigators a strong lead in identifying the culprit.

A Costly Hit for a Small Business

The loss, exceeding £500, represents a significant financial setback for the independent restaurant, particularly amid broader challenges. In November 2024, Cambs Times reported that the business, like many others, had been grappling with rising costs and reduced footfall—a troubling trend for small hospitality venues across the region.

Community Support Floods In

The burglary has sparked a wave of community support, with customers and locals flooding the restaurant’s social media with messages of sympathy and solidarity.

One supporter wrote, “So sorry this happened—hope they catch her soon!” while another urged the community to “pitch in to help them recover.”

The response reflects the tight-knit nature of March, where local businesses are deeply valued and community support is swift in the face of adversity.

Police Investigation Underway

Although Cambridgeshire Constabulary has not yet released an official statement, increased patrols in the area have reportedly been deployed in response to the incident. So far, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.

The restaurant continues to appeal to the public for information that could help identify the woman in the CCTV footage.

How You Can Help

Anyone with information about the burglary or who recognises the suspect is urged to contact Cambridgeshire Police via 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.

In the meantime, the owners of Black Rock Grill & Smokehouse remain determined to move forward—with the strength of a community behind them.
