Arson Attack at Wisbech Ex-Services Club Prompts Police Appeal for Witness

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a suspected arson attack devastated the Wisbech and District Ex-Services Club in Alexandra Road, Wisbech. The incident occurred around 04:20 on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Emergency services were alerted to the raging fire, which is believed to have originated on the ground floor of the unoccupied building. The blaze caused significant damage to the historic club, leaving the community in shock.

Detective Constable Chris Goodman is leading the investigation into this potentially malicious act. He is urging anyone who might have witnessed suspicious activity in the area between 04:00 and 04:30 GMT to come forward with information. Of particular interest are two individuals who were present with a young child during that timeframe. Their eyewitness accounts could be vital in unravelling the circumstances surrounding the incident.
