Residents in Bexleyheath are being urged to remain vigilant after a parcel was stolen from outside a home yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred when a delivery driver left the package on the doorstep, and an opportunistic thief allegedly seized the opportunity.

Sam Burke shared a video on social media, showing footage of the suspect taking her sister’s parcel. The video, captured by a security camera, has since been widely circulated on Facebook in hopes of identifying the culprit.

The Incident

The parcel, reportedly left in plain sight by the delivery driver, was stolen shortly after delivery. In the shared video, a person is seen approaching the property, picking up the package, and walking away.
A local resident commented on the post:

“It’s not the first time something like this has happened. They should at least leave parcels in a safer spot or get a signature.”

What You Can Do

To prevent such thefts, residents are encouraged to take the following precautions:

  • Specify delivery instructions: Use safe drop-off locations or request parcels be left with a trusted neighbour.
  • Install a video doorbell or security camera: Capture footage of any suspicious activity.
  • Opt for delivery lockers: Use collection points or lockers provided by delivery services.
  • Monitor deliveries closely: Track shipments to ensure prompt collection after delivery.

The incident has been reported to the local authorities, and anyone with information about the theft or who recognizes the individual in the video is urged to contact the police.
