East Surrey Hospital Catches Fire After Ambulance Burst Into Flames

Fire fighters are working to contain a fire after 3 ambulances burst into flames this afternoon. Three ambulances are on fire at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, with thick black smoke seen pouring into the air. Surrey Fire and Rescue got the call at around 2:15pm today, but it is not clear what started the fire. Surrey Police are helping with the incident and say that part of the building is now also on fire. A spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance has given some details about ambulance services being diverted to other hospitals. She said: “SECAmb will be taking patients to neighbouring hospitals, as it will vary depending on the location of the patient, what their medical condition is and capacity at those hospitals, so no hospital in particular. It will include Princess Royal in Haywards Heath and others.” more to follow…..
