Edinburgh’s world-famous Hogmanay celebrations have been cancelled as the UK braces for extreme weather conditions over the New Year period.
Organisers made the announcement just hours before events were set to begin on Monday, citing high winds and safety concerns. All outdoor events scheduled for December 30 and 31 have been called off.
A spokesperson for the organisers said:
“The decision was made for safety reasons due to the forecast of extreme weather. We apologise for the disappointment but prioritise the safety of all involved.”
