Police in West Belfast are appealing for information and witnesses following a disturbing incident where a lit firework was pushed through the front door of an elderly person’s home while they were asleep in bed. Officers received a report that young individuals pushed the firework through the letterbox of a property in the Glasvey Court area of Twinbrook at around 9.35pm on Tuesday, October 24th, before quickly fleeing the scene.
Fortunately, the firework did not fully ignite, but it did cause damage to the property. The police are treating this serious criminal act as attempted arson with intent to endanger life, recognising the potentially catastrophic consequences if the firework had exploded.
