Four fire engines and multiple crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to a container fire at Sheerness Docks on Sunday 6 April 2025. The fire, reported at around 8:06 pm, was brought under control after several hours of firefighting efforts, concluding at 4:19 am the following morning.

Firefighting Efforts

Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of a smouldering container at the docks. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus utilized high-pressure hose reel jets to douse the flames. They also deployed a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke and used small tools and a rescue winch to access the area safely.

The operation involved a thorough inspection to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished and posed no further risk.

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. Fire crews remained on-site for several hours to secure the area and monitor for potential flare-ups.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is urging anyone with information or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact them directly.

Safety Reminder

Local authorities have reminded businesses and workers at the docks to ensure that containers are stored safely and to report any suspicious behaviour immediately.
