Upon arrival they found flames had spread from the kitchen to the first floor of the property, damaging about one-third of the building. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used high-pressure hoses to bring the fire under control. One person was given a precautionary check by paramedics for the effects of breathing in smoke. The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
