Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a kitchen fire at a house in Lines Terrace, Chatham, on Christmas Day. The incident was reported at 12:59 pm, with two fire engines dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus worked swiftly to extinguish the flames using high-pressure hose reel jets. Thanks to the quick actions of the occupant, who had closed the internal kitchen door, the fire was contained to the kitchen, preventing further damage to the property.
There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire has been determined as accidental, linked to cooking overheating in an oven.
