Firefighters were called to the scene of a large fire at a woodyard in Harrietsham, near Maidstone, on Sunday afternoon (June 1), prompting a significant emergency response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

The blaze broke out around 4:18 PM, with thick smoke visible from surrounding rural areas. In total, six fire engines, a bulk water carrier, and a height vehicle were deployed to tackle the fire.

Crews used main jets to bring the flames under control, and operations continued until around 7:05 PM, when the fire was reported as extinguished. Firefighters remained on scene to dampen hotspots and secure the area.

No Injuries Reported

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
