MOBILITY SCOOTER HORROR: Man, 48, ‘dragged off scooter and beaten unconscious’ in brutal Middlesbrough attack

A man has tragically died after being dragged from his mobility scooter and violently attacked in the street by a group of men who allegedly arrived in a black BMW.

The shocking incident occurred on Deepdale Road at around 6.30pm on Thursday, April 18, where the 48-year-old victim was knocked unconscious during a brutal assault.

Police say the assailants fled the scene in the vehicle immediately after the attack. The victim was rushed to hospital but has since passed away from an unrelated illness, before charges could be brought against those responsible.

 Investigation Ongoing

Cleveland Police are now urgently appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam recordings from the area at the time of the attack.

Authorities believe there may be crucial evidence that could help identify the suspects and bring them to justice.

A police spokesperson said:
“This was a violent and senseless attack on a vulnerable man. While the cause of death is unrelated, we remain committed to bringing those responsible for the assault to justice.

Crime Concerns in the Region

The incident follows growing concern over rising violence in Middlesbrough, which has recently been labelled one of the most dangerous areas in the UK — with 128.5 offences per 1,000 people, according to latest data.

Local residents have expressed fear over gangs operating in the area, with one carer, David Liddell, 58, saying:

“The crime figures are no surprise to me at all. We’ve had nothing but trouble around here.”
