Lancashire Police in Oldham are seeking witnesses following a reported attempted kidnapping incident that occurred on Friday, 14 July 2023.
At around 20.00 BST a woman was allegedly approached by two men who were driving a small white van near the junction of Lily Street and Godson Street. According to the victim, the men forcibly grabbed her, issued threats, and demanded that she enter their van.
However, a passer-by who was walking his dog intervened, prompting the two men to leave the scene. They fled by driving up Godson Street toward the junction with Crompton Street.
The suspects are described as white males in their 30s. One of the individuals is reported to be approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium build, dark short hair, and a goatee. He is also described as having a sleeve tattoo on his right arm. The second suspect is described as around 5’5″ in height, with a skinny build, blond hair, a small moustache, and stubble.
Local law enforcement officials are providing support to the victim and actively investigating the incident.
Chief Inspector Matthew Walker, of GMP’s Oldham district, reassured the community that reports of such incidents are taken seriously, emphasising the dedication of the police force to ensuring the safety of residents. Additional patrols have been deployed in the area to address concerns and maintain public safety.
Chief Inspector Walker urged anyone who was present in the vicinity at the time of the incident or witnessed any relevant information to come forward. He specifically requested the passer-by who intervened to contact the police, as their account could significantly aid the investigation.
Authorities are also appealing to individuals in the area who may possess doorbell, dashcam, or CCTV footage that could assist in identifying the suspects.

The police assure that all reports and information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
