Police Renew Appeal For Information On The One-year Anniversary Of Sean Fox’s Murder

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team are urging the community to come forward with information regarding the murder of 42-year-old Sean Fox in west Belfast. As the one-year anniversary of the tragic incident approaches, Detective Chief Superintendent Eamonn Corrigan is leading a renewed appeal for information.

Sean Fox was fatally shot on October 2nd, 2022, at approximately 2:25 pm, when two masked gunmen entered the Donegal Celtic Sports and Social Club on the Suffolk Road in west Belfast. The gunmen, who were inside the club for a mere 21 seconds, fired 20 bullets, fatally targeting Sean Fox as he sat in a busy function room. The swift and calculated execution took place in front of multiple witnesses, leaving the local community in shock.

Detective Chief Superintendent Eamonn Corrigan emphasised the urgency of solving the case, stating, “Our thoughts are very much with the Fox family today, one year on from the murder of Sean. They are desperately hoping that those responsible for murdering Sean will be brought to justice, and today I am making a renewed appeal for information.”

The gunmen, who arrived and left the scene on bicycles, traveled through various areas in west Belfast. Descriptions of the suspects and their bikes have been provided, and the police are seeking any information, regardless of how small or seemingly insignificant it may be.

“This was a calculated, planned, ruthless execution carried out in broad daylight and in front of a number of people. It was a barbaric act, and one year on, the family of Mr. Fox remains grief-stricken,” added Detective Chief Superintendent Corrigan.

Authorities are urging anyone who was present at the social club during the incident or who may have witnessed the arrival or departure of the masked gunmen to come forward. Information can be provided directly to the police via 101, or anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity at 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers has offered a reward of up to £20,000 for anonymous information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Sean Fox’s murder.
