In the early hours of this morning, a rescue operation was launched following an incident involving a small boat carrying asylum seekers off the coast of Deal. The distressing event unfolded at approximately 7:45 am in the vicinity of the Goodwin Sands.

Upon receiving the alert, the HM Coastguard swiftly mobilised, deploying Walmer and Ramsgate lifeboats alongside a coastguard helicopter from Lydd to the scene of the incident.
