Police are urgently appealing for information after a man attempted to abduct a four-year-old child near a McDonald’s restaurant in Longbridge on Wednesday morning (April 30).
The terrifying incident happened at around 11.30am as the child was walking with a woman. A man approached them and tried to grab the child’s arm. Thankfully, the woman intervened and prevented the abduction.
The suspect fled the scene on foot, heading toward a nearby McDonald’s on Longbridge Lane.
West Midlands Police confirmed that the child was unharmed but is being supported by specialist officers. Detectives are actively reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with local residents to track down the suspect.
Inspector Matt Shaw of Birmingham Police said:
“We understand how distressing this incident will be to the community, but rest assured, we are taking it incredibly seriously.
We urge anyone who was in the area at the time to check dashcams, doorbell cameras, or any other footage that could assist with our enquiries.
