Three Children Rescued from Sea in Sandown

The Sandown and Shanklin independent lifeboat was scrambled after three children got into difficulty in the sea this afternoon Tuesday 14th August 2018. Quick thinking members of the public spotted the children in distress and raised the alarm before going in after them near to Sandown Pier. The lifeboat was launched just after 5.30pm. However, the children had been rescued by onlookers A Coastguard search and rescue team from Bembridge have also been sent to the incident at Sandown Esplanade Paramedics from Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, and a paramedic officer are now treating the trio of youngsters who are understood to have been approx 15 metres out at sea.
