In a heart-wrenching incident early Sunday morning, a house fire in Wigan resulted in the deaths of a four-year-old boy and his father, who heroically rescued his son from the flames. The child, Ethan Mason, succumbed to severe burns covering at least 70% of his body and passed away in the hospital today, police confirmed. His father, 45, died on the scene from injuries sustained during the rescue.

Details of the Incident The blaze, reported to have started around 2:30am on April 14, 2024, quickly escalated, engulfing the family’s home on Warrington Road. Emergency services, including the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, responded promptly, but the fire had already caused devastating damage. Four other individuals were treated for injuries related to the incident.
