Police in Wolverhampton have launched a murder investigation following a tragic incident that claimed one life and left four others injured. The incident occurred early this morning at a residence on Plascom Road.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, with officers arriving just after 1.10am. Paramedics and police administered CPR to the five individuals found inside the property. They were subsequently taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Regrettably, a 26-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy remains in critical condition, and a 52-year-old woman suffered severe burns. Two other men, one in his 50s and another in his 20s, have been discharged after receiving medical attention.

Superintendent Martin Hurcomb expressed the gravity of the situation: “This is a tragic incident that has resulted in the loss of one life and injuries to four others. Our team is working tirelessly to understand the circumstances surrounding the fire and identify those responsible.”

Forensic experts are currently examining the scene, and a cordon will remain in place throughout the day. Officers will continue to be present in the area, offering reassurance to the community.

Detectives are also interviewing witnesses and collecting CCTV footage.
